Derrick is a good friend of mine for the glory days at BYU. One thing that I love about this kid is he never takes the simple way out. He prefers the more sophisticated, yet elegant methods when it comes to invention. Take this pinewood derby for example. A normal person would strap a little circuit on top that when the switch was on it would blink and make noise, even if not in pursuit of a moving vehicle (a.k.a going down the ramp), I mean, that’s the way Matel toys engineers designed it. But Derrick, no, it can’t be that clumsy, he designs the pinewood derby to detect when the wheel is rotating and which enables the signals for the sirens to go off. Pretty cool!

Nothing like a weekend of changing your brakes! This weekend I got the little stock jack out from behind the seat in my truck and pulled off all four tires. I changed the brake pads and rotors. Most shops just machine your rotors but on my truck it always seems to leave a little vibration once the pads wear down a little bit. For $10 more, you can get a brand new rotor. It was pretty straightforward. I think for next time though I definitely will buy an air impact wrench and some more PB Blaster. Those bolts are on there pretty tight!

Jeremy and Darcee left for Washington D.C. so we had a goodbye party! We’re going to miss those guys. We also miss the Sabey family. Everyone is taking off. But before Jeremy and Darcee took off we had a fun game of bacci ball.
Brett is so pro.

Watching a marathon was a lot more fun than I had imagined. Steven is a friend from work and he ran in the Utah Valley Marathon. After watching him, I just might run a marathon someday…maybe.

This Easter, Erin and I had a great dinner with Mike and Em and then decorated eggs. This video shows a little bit of Emily’s hospitality.

So when we were done decorating the eggs, we had some stickers left over…they didn’t want to waste them…

Phil and Blanche had a great Easter celebration. They made us go on an impossible egg hunt and after all of our looking we only found one (1) egg.

This was the best group shot I had of everybody. If you’ve got better pictures please send them.

After the wedding we decided to drive to Seattle. That was probably not the smartest thing because it was a ton of driving! But we had never been out that far North West so we decided to make the most of it.
